We are dedicated to supporting this church by our prayers, presence, gifts and service; we understand our mission as the church is to make disciples of Christ.
At Amity UMC, our mission of “alive in Christ, embracing diversity, building community and serving the world” reflects our core values. One of our core values in support of being “alive in Christ” is…
Worship: Coming together to worship God is essential to who we are as Christian disciples. Worship “is an encounter with the living God through the risen Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit” (UM BOW, p. 13). In the gathering of diverse people, the church community comes together to make up the body of Christ in the world. In the Spirit, we are all unified in the family of God. We are called to worship God; it is both a right and an expectation. All are welcome to fully participate in every aspect of worship at Amity. May we all be Alive in Christ!
Amity United Methodist Church was established in 1958 in the heart of Chapel Hill. We hold dear the tenets that all people matter to God and belong in the community, and by grace, become like Christ to serve the world.
